Pretty interesting, such a great fucking scream!

life, Try the first album or second. I think they are all great. They do an awesome cover
of Bob Dylan's 'It's All Over Now Baby Blue' on the second album...

Went to Gold Panda on friday night and went to the Oh Sees last night.
Being 18 really has its perks. Gold Panda was pretty solid. He played a
bit more ambient then was necessary since everyone was in the mood to
boogie but it was a "very enjoyable evening".

The Oh Sees were fucking solid, but it was very dissapointing that they
only played a fucking 30 minute set, and i talked to the drummer who
is fucking hot on the kit. He was very aggressive and i wasn't even saying
mean stuff. Americana's!!!!

Right now i'm listening to the Oh Sees - Sucks Blood. It's a very laid back
velvet underground-esque build. It's more folk and hardly any heavy up-
beat pop garage rock tunes. First song is a killer.

copious amounts of The Beta Band. They quite well known
artists, and have a compilation called the Three Ep's. I have to say
i would not have found this if it wasn't for a friend of mine.

Ever since he showed me this album, its been on repeat, especially the
song "Dry the Rain".

album by a band called The Clap. I pretty much downloaded the album because
of their awesome name and their awesome fucking album cover!

This is probably the best album cover i have seen in a very very very long time!!!

Anyway! So they are said to be similar to thee oh sees and strange boys...
this demo covers a lot of genres from psych jams to garage rock vibes.. A tad shoegazzy in
some parts as well... it has really helped me get through this week which is a plus!
the first song is killer! i love it! Some of you will probably hate the
release... but just download it for the sake of an awesome album cover!

Went to the HEALTH gig last Friday. It was pretty nuts.
Supporting groups were pretty terrible.
Baadd were the worst thing ever. Two sluts screaming to hardcore
techno and fucking the air and rolling on the ground.
Made me want to die.
Next guys were a shocking lo-fi punk band with a dickhead
singing who actually had a decent voice. They just had a go-to which
made every song sound the same. Which was crap.
Then HEALTH graced the stage and mutilated our ears.

Their songs were loud and bombastic and intense. The crowd was
going off during the "popular" songs "Crimewave" and "Die Slow".
I loved the whole set because it was just so interesting to see what instruments
they were using the make the crazy sounds, such as in "In Violet", the main line
is played on the bass. WTF!?!

Unfortunately there wasn't a beard solo from the drummer but I
did give him a high five post-gig when we were dancing to "Let's Dance"
by Bowie after the encore. Here's us giving The Shocker before HEALTH.

No these Horrors dwell in Cedar Rapids Iowa... And started the band
when they were just 18. Makes all you 18 year old's feel like useless pieces
crap hey? Do something about and give the Sydney music scene a boost!

The album i'm hooked on is Vent (their second release) and you
should check it out! They are raw rock n roll with influences like
Leadbelly and Doo-Rag. If you like ECSR you'll probs like these guys
even though they're quite different. Plus they're so good, i run to this shit! not that i
run very often! but still!!! My favorite track is Karen. But its solid throughout

Don't worry, i am slowly generating a top 10 of 2009 list, i will post
it shortly...

but before i do, i have landed on some pretty good electronica yesterday!
The bands called Cluster and they were pretty influential in the ambient
and electronic department... Their album Zuckerzeit is said to be a bit
different to their other releases as they have clearly defined melody and
rhythms in most songs. Whatever they do, they do it well because this
album is pretty solid. I've only listened to it once through but i dig it..
and so should you!

So back when i was in San Fran on holidays with the good old family,
i bought i few CD's from Amoeba records. One of them was a two disc White Sripes
The Document. I didn't know what it was but it looked interesting, i was taking
a risk though because it did look like some shifty bootleg..

Anyway the guy at the counter in Amoeba laughed at me for buying and so
that was the reason why i hid it in my cd collection until today when i was
reading some interviews and came across this unauthorized documentary
of the couple called Candy Colored Blued. So i decided to open up the shitty
bootleg and see if it had this doco in it... Turns out it did!!! and it has some
really good info on the band when they started and everything...

This is Toe Rag Studies where The White Stripes recorded "Elephant". I already heard
about Toe Rag before, but i got these goodies for you to look at!

Last night i went to the WHY? gig at the Annandale Hotel...
I met up with Two guys from my school and some of my sisters friends.
Even though i wasn't a big fan of them i went for the thrill of getting in
again.. All of yesterday i listened to their album Alopecia a bit of
Elephant Eyelash. Luckily they did play a lot of songs from Alopecia

Anyway, so the first support was Kyu (two chicks) singing over keyboards.
Kind of reminded me of the cold mountain soundtrack remix with synthesizers.
thats not a bad thing by the way.. but i only saw a bit of them... then Seekae..

Wow! I mean i heard a bit of them at Newtown fest but last night showed me that
they are a really strong electronic act. I'm proud that they are aussie! The drummer
is tight, i kept wondering how the hell he can play beats to the keyboards. i mean
he was pretty funky but he didn't play funk...You understand?

Then it was Why? To be honest i liked Seekae better but that was because they didn't have
lyrics to the song so no one sang along. Everyone sang along with Why? and it made me
feel left out :(.. But they were pretty good. The singer also reminded me
of a young history teacher at my school...
Weeeeeiiird.. But then a friend said that i looked like the drummer (on the left).
The singer Yoni wasn't that talkative either. At first i though him arrogant.
but then he does look like he has never grabbed a females breast before so he could be a
nervous wreck..
Don't hate! I am most certain that he has had his fair share of the laddeeessh! its just the "nerdy
look" that he's going for.

Why? did the girls in front of me feel it was necessary to fucking talk through Why?'s whole
set.. I mean you'd think they would shut the fuck up in the middle of the songs... They just
were fuckin yapping their traps.. Argh i was so pissed. And they kept flinging their sweaty
hair in my face making me eat like a handful of rank hair... Ughh...

Anywayzz that was last night.. My music teacher's band ROSE OF YORK is playing on the
23rd at the Sandringham.. I am going!! You should too!

I don't know what got into me last night but whatever it was this
photo is proof that me (and tim) successfully "broke" (through the fence)
into the Annandale hotel last night to see thee
Oh Sees and Eddy Current rock out a awesomely sweaty set of garage rocky tunes...
no joke my ears are still ringing...

So after breaking through the fence of the hotel stumbling into the beer
garden and catching the attention of everyone in the vicinity, we walked
into the pub section of the hotel and after that into the free viewing section
standing next to the speaker (bad idea)

We got sick of killing our ears so we snuck into the venue and watched
the rest of thee ooh sees and all of eddy current. Squished up against
people that look the same age as my parents and helping up the poor
people that fall over in the mosh. Not wearing any shoes the whole time
i was in the mosh pit! i mean i could write a freaking belonging
story on this... and man were the women attractive!.. one more year...

We also asked a guy to
buy us drinks with some money we had... he did it! he's pretty cool!

it was awesome. it was great! you really had to be there.
but it was soooo sooooo much better then playing xbox!

Some chick squeezed my arse as well. that was pretty cool.
i bought thee ooh sees album "Help" signed by the keyboardist who
i had a little chat with at the end.

Overall man, that was a killer night! and you should all check out
the bands they are all amazing!

Feb/Mar 2010

I cannot wait for these two months.

First of all, February is when I shall be going away to Japan,
which will obviously involve a lot of "OMG SHRINEZ!"-ing
and buying Japanese albums like L'Arc~en~Ciel's "Smile" and
Boredoms' "Vision Creation Newsun" and Boris' "Pink" and most
likely a lot of gawking at women from far away.

Then when I get back, Yo La Tengo gig on the 18th. I'm hoping
Hugh is willing to see them again. Otherwise I'll be alone (assuming
Jeremy keeps his promise from the formal). But whatevs, Yo La
Tengo are just ABAP indie which I love and am excited to see regardless.

Next up is March. This will most likely be the highlight month
of my life, jus' sayin'. Let's see what's on the table, shall we?

March 4 - PAVEMENT! The iconic 90s indie rockers who did it
better than anyone else (zing, R.E.M. nahjokez, I <3 R.E.M.).
Pretty much predicting that this will be amazing because they'll
be fresh and ready to roll out the tunes. "Conduit For Sale!", plox.

March 11 - While it's mother's birthday, she doesn't mind if I
ditch it to see DINOSAUR JR.! I literally crapped my pants when
I first heard about this sideshow. I love Dinosaur Jr. a little too
much and seeing J, Lou and Murph will be complete and utter
aural pleasure.

March 15 - Fatty Francis, (Not quite as) Fatty Deal, Pedo Freak
Santiago and Dave Lovering should beat Neil Young as the best gig
I will have seen. Actually, that would be difficult, but I reckon Pixies
can manage. Yeah, Doolittle is the fucking bomb and seeing it live will
be better than listening to it at home, duhz. I cannot wait for some
TAAAAAAAAAAAME!

So I'm having an indie-rockin' good time early next year. The only issue
is paying everyone back for all of this. Sorry, mum's credit rating!

Halloween, Anniversary

so yesterday was the one year anniversary of table nine. and me being quite a
incompetent man didn't do anything about it...um so 204ish posts and we have
ended up here. that's pretty interesting...but not really.

Some keen vinyl collector bought it at a flea market in Canada and bought it for 75c.
He didn't know what it was, but it turned out to be an in studio pressing of The Velvet Undergrounds, Velvet Underground and Nico, prior to Andy Warhols involvement in
the record. so that probably means there is not nico either. but i haven't listened to it
all so i wouldn't know...

So i think this is a good little record to share for Halloween. hope you guys all had a fun
time.. and here's to tableninemutants....yesterday...

Hospice

I listened to "Hospice" by The Antlers last night.
It was one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard.
So fragile and delicate. It floats around with a kind of serene
beauty that I rarely hear matched in music. It's kinda
folky, but from memory, quite sparse in sounds and vocals.
There are some great lyrics (I particularly like:
There was glass inside my feet and raining down from the ceiling,
it opened up the scars that had just finished healing)
and they give the whole album a very personal, exposed
feeling. As you can see, I quite liked this album.

Vocalist Peter Silberman has a raw, shaky voice that I think
really helps give the album its confessional atmosphere. The
song "Two" (standout, I believe) has constant, clanging guitar
while the other layers build up and down around it, developing
the story (it's a concept album) in a very heartfelt manner.
"Sylvia" explores guilt and mortality by talking about
out best friend Ms Plath herself. No, this album is not upbeat
at all, and it rarely has a BMP of like 50. The songs float around
in space ("Kettering" does so for 5:15) in a wrenching tale
of a man losing his loved one, with some caustic lyrics and
extremely expressive instrumental sections.

This shit moved me.

Illmatic is a fantastic album.
It is a shame that NaS's style changed after his debut
because this is just so good.
I actually acquired this CD today because I felt like it.
Weird for me, no?

English is over, and I am quite happy with life right now.
I only have the maths exams and then chemistry
and then a month of partying and drinking
It'll be goooooooood.

My idiot neighbour has an unsecured network
which is beneficial in multiple ways
This means
1. I can abuse the shit out of it for music downloads,
I actually managed to cap it last month, whoops...
2. I can access internet on my bed, which before
was impossible as I live in a room separate from the house.
3. I can stay up later cause unlike my house's network,
it doesn't cut out at around 11.

I've been able to expand my library pretty easily.
Got some CCR, Brian Eno, Black Flag, Pavement, The Coral, etc..
And I've been getting into noise recently,
Lightning Bolt, Boredoms. Mainly Lightning Bolt...
I'm so seeing Lightning Bolt.
Speaking of gigs, I managed to acquire a ticket to Pavement
next march. That means Pixies AND Pavement in the same month.

this is a black flag album...with Henry Rollins as the front man...
i just listened to it and i think i dig it pretty hard... if you are looking
for straight up-in-your-face hardcore. then i don't recommend this..
because side A is all spoken word from Rollins himself..
And Side B is all instrumentals except for one track...

It's pretty graphic album art by the famous Raymond Pettibon..
for youse who don't know Pettibon. and for all you faggots that
listen to sonic youth.. he did the album art for Goo..nah
just joking..i dig sonic youth.. your not a faggot..but maybe you are??

ok, so for the last few days i've been on this huuuuuuuge
queens of the stone age bender. frankly, i've loved it.
every second of it.

josh homme has always been a bit of an idol for me
but in these last few days he's been my god.
i've watched countless interviews,
behind the scenes on albums,
live performances.
and i downloaded this totes rad thing.
three volumes of qotsa rarities.
some of the songs here should have been on albums.
like the fun machine took a shit and died.
actually, that was meant to be on lullabies to paralyze,
but they lost the tapes....
oh, and infinity, which was recorded in 2000,
so i guess should have been on rated r or r or whatever.
i could link you to about a million videos of things which i've found.
but i won't. i'll only give you a few. and i know that it'll probs only
be bouzo or hannah which even bothers to watch any, but its good.
first one is a video of them playing song for the dead at the bdo in 2003
one of the best performances ive seen of this song.
um, next will be them doing you can't quit me, baby, at pinkpop in 2008.
this song has such a freaking groovy bassline.
and finally a video of them doing little sister at les eurokeennes de belfort
i don't know where that is, or when,
but alain johannes, so its gotta be like 2004 to 2006.
i'll also give you a couple of badass tracks.

and the last one is actually a cover of a mondo generator song,
ode to clarissa. mondo generator are actually nick oliveri's band
who was the bassist for qotsa, and in my opinion, the best one
who's been in the band. but he got fired cause he apparently beat up
his girlfriend and was abusing crazy hard drugs.
i've also fell even more in love with joey castillo.

he's such a crazy animal behind the drums,
and better suited to the band than dave grohl was.
anyway, that's my qotsa rant, any questions?

If you haven't heard this album because "you think The Thrills" are
crappy, then get outta ma face! This album is totally and purely 100%
brilliance and everyone who likes the sound of real music should get it.
Unless you have it already. In that case, rock on!
Seriously, easy 5/5.

And The Big Pink album is pretty great as well. It's an interesting
mix of pop and shoegazing. We all love shoegazing here, right?
Yeah, I thought so. So get that, or download it or ask me to borrow it
and then you'll have just another album of 2009 that probably won't
leave a massive cultural impact on the world.

And I watched Detroit Rock City again recently. This film is hilarious.
However, the only people here who will like it are Harry and Bouzo,
regardless of their not-liking of Kiss, they're probably the only two who
will appreciate the type of humour. And maybe Hugh in some parts.
So I don't know why I felt obliged to introduce this film into your life.

I've never been a keen fan of hardcore before. But there is always one band

that i come back too for two reasons. they are epically killer, and secondly
because they have really short songs which boost my play count on last fm...

It's fast pace, with McPheeter's great lyrics...like...great lyrics and the dazzling
riffs on the guitar. i recommend them to everyone since we should all have
an open mind and not hate. i think even some serge gainsbourg females may
take a fancy to these guys... but a warning first. they don't smoke gaulloises...

so there is this band called the Mummies
from San Fransisco. They started in '88 and have a
mad cult following. they are back together now and are
playing a show in the lovely bay area soon with the Oh Sees.
Anyway..

They are said to be the greatest garage rock outfit ever.
and i think i agree with that. real ruff sounding and shit.
so get this stuff fast.

This is their best LP, but their 7inch's are as good!
